3 Mind-Blowing Steps To Raising Children Of Character

Raising children is tough. You have to battle with your everyday responsibilities, with prior commitments, and with life in general. But in all of this, you have to find time to raise your children. How do you manage to raise your children properly amid all of the distractions? 1. Be A Good Example Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ve heard this all before. Well, just because you have heard it before doesn’t mean that it is not true. Children are influenced more by their parents than by anyone else. Even if a parent is never around, they influence their child. Their child misses the love and acceptance from that parent, and they will carry that burden around for their whole life. Children are like mirrors – they reflect the behavior of their parents. Live like you want them to live. 2. Control Their Influences In this rat race we call life, many parents have placed the responsibility of raising their children on other people. Daycares, schools, after-school centers, sports, TV, and Internet are great influences on your child. Watch and listen to what your children are absorbing. If you teach your children to live the right way, but they are constantly influenced by the glamour of living the wrong way, which way are your impressionable children more likely to live? Don’t expose your children to other influences that contradict what you are teaching them. 3. Punish In Love So many parents take it and take it until they can’t take anymore, and then they punish their children in anger. This is so dangerous. First of all, don’t allow the situation to continue so long that your every last nerve is spent. Take care of the problem quickly so you don’t get to that level. Secondly, if you let the situation get out of hand, don’t take it out on your children. Get control of yourself first, then discipline your children second. |
